I remember meeting Al in late 1993 or 1994 while living with his younger brother Dave in Whistler. Here's what I remember over the last 27ish years.....
Lots of skiing, talking about skiing, waiting for the ski season to arrive, waiting for 1st chair weather it had snowed or not, arguing the merits of fat skis, hiking for powder while Al shuffled until he got touring adaptors, 100's of fisheye spread eagle laps, exploring on skiis wherever we could get to and even getting to heli ski guide him and rip tree runs all day in Blue River.
What did we do when ski season was over? We rode bikes on all the singletrack we could find and worked at Nesters selling 'produce' to keep the bikes going. Sure glad we had bosses who put up with us and our 15min/half hour/hour late grace period almost daily from riding and skiing. Although a golf addiction cut into riding with Al in recent years, it was pretty awesome riding Windy pass in the Chilcotin with Al last summer.
So many memories....remember the snowmobile phase in the early 2000's when we discovered you could get face shots going up hill! And wet heavy snow felt pretty good on a sled too. From being asked to be a part of your wedding party, the odd mens night golfing at the chateau, and some pow laps on flute and oboe this past winter, the list goes on! You've attacked everything with energy and your unmistakable cackle, rock on bud!
