On Thursday June 10th, 2021, in the twelfth round of a ten year match, just before the ding of the bell, Al Paul packed up his big heart, stubborn soul, radiant smile, crossed the ropes, and walked away from his battle with brain cancer.

Al left the world the way he lived in it, on his own terms and with his wife and son by his side. “Armed with will, and determination and grace too.”

He is neck deep in powder now, or shooting the round of his life with any angel lucky enough to join him.

Al wanted everyone to know that life is beautiful, worth every adventure you

say yes to, and a perfect day can be as large as a long walk up a mountain or as simple as a movie day on the couch with the people you love. Also (and he really can’t stress this enough): He was the best skier on the mountain.

Childhood Memories of Wildman - Big Al

Were to start...

Al and I grew up together from Public School to High School. Those were great memories that will live with me forever. Al as most know him, was a pretty funny guy, even if he came from a farm!!

Most importantly though he is a very special friend with his enormous appetite for life, family and friends.

This is still apparent today.

Adventures...well lets say they would be epic. Most of mine revolved around skiing and pit parties.

Of course as we grew up together we naturally went our separate ways, but I think we always kinda kept tabs on each other.

I really enjoyed seeing you in 2011 on Mount Pakenham, that was a good day. I am glad you got to meet Nicholas.

Most of all I have always admired how great of a father you have become. My God your son has the same epic smile, the thing I will always remember the most. You always seemed to light up a room with that infectious smile.
