Kelly here. Kelly Charlebois. Remember me? Short, feisty, liked to hang out with you, Tony, Jason and Rob in high school? Oh c’mon, you remember…try…remember how you taught me to drive using your old farm truck and I was scared out of my wits? Remember how you talked me into asking Rob to the Sadie Hawkins dance when I was in Gr. 9 and you guys were in Gr. 10 (for the record, I really wanted to ask you haha). Remember how you and the guys and me got KFC then went back to your house to watch movies and taught me how to drink vodka for the first time, and the next morning had to explain to your mom what the stuff in the snow outside the door was? And of course, the skiing, ah yes, the skiing at Pakenham…ever constant, it didn’t matter who was going, really, because you were the staple at the hill… Yeah, THAT Kelly ;) I have thought of you so fondly over the years, so thankful for social media (one of the few times) so I could keep up with your life, your beautiful life, I cannot tell you how many times I have had a tear or two of absolute joy roll down my cheek when I see how wonderful everything has turned out for you, aside from this mildly inconvenient brain cancer business. Heather seems like a match made in Heaven for you and Colt, he’s just perfect, isn’t he?! In many ways it feels like I just saw you a couple of years ago, I hold you that dear to my heart - isn’t that crazy? Yet here we are, so many years later, and looking at pictures of you, the same Al is there, just without the brown hair ;) You were always so good to me, Allen, such a genuine and trusted friend. It’s so wonderful to know that you’ve had a great life in Whistler, and that you’ve never changed. Enjoy these days with your beautiful wife and son and the rest of your amazing family, and know that you are loved by every soul that you’ve ever touched. Live well, Al xox

On Thursday June 10th, 2021, in the twelfth round of a ten year match, just before the ding of the bell, Al Paul packed up his big heart, stubborn soul, radiant smile, crossed the ropes, and walked away from his battle with brain cancer.
Al left the world the way he lived in it, on his own terms and with his wife and son by his side. “Armed with will, and determination and grace too.”
He is neck deep in powder now, or shooting the round of his life with any angel lucky enough to join him.
Al wanted everyone to know that life is beautiful, worth every adventure you
say yes to, and a perfect day can be as large as a long walk up a mountain or as simple as a movie day on the couch with the people you love. Also (and he really can’t stress this enough): He was the best skier on the mountain.
