Hi Colt. we have never met but I thought I would share some memories I have of your father. I apologize that this has taken so long but I am having a hard time putting pen to paper. When I heard about your father, it was devastating news, I did not know what to say. I actually drove down to the top of Thom Hill and parked there, which gave me an unobstructed view of the old Paul Farm. To be honest so many great memories came back. I remember the bus rides to school, where Al would get on and have the biggest smile. He was the funniest person I had ever met. His sense of humour, mixed with his own brand of sarcasm made each bus ride enjoyable. I remember the summers I spent swimming in their pool, riding their dirt bike around the farm. I remember the blueberry pancakes Eleanor made. I remember playing video games with Dave and Al until the wee hours of the morning. I remember Al asking if I would help him in the barn. Little did I know he was hiding in the milk house with the hose. I innocently walked by and he jumped out and said,” say hello to my little friend”, then sprayed me with the hose. God he laughed so hard. In closing, as I started to drive away, a few tears in my eyes I said aloud. Thanks for the memories Al, I will remember..

On Thursday June 10th, 2021, in the twelfth round of a ten year match, just before the ding of the bell, Al Paul packed up his big heart, stubborn soul, radiant smile, crossed the ropes, and walked away from his battle with brain cancer.
Al left the world the way he lived in it, on his own terms and with his wife and son by his side. “Armed with will, and determination and grace too.”
He is neck deep in powder now, or shooting the round of his life with any angel lucky enough to join him.
Al wanted everyone to know that life is beautiful, worth every adventure you
say yes to, and a perfect day can be as large as a long walk up a mountain or as simple as a movie day on the couch with the people you love. Also (and he really can’t stress this enough): He was the best skier on the mountain.
